Not only is the title of my diary what Bush is telling our country by commuting the sentence of Scooter Libby, it is what I am about to tell you, the diarists of DailyKos.
Or at least those who don't believe in impeachment.
Now pardoning Libby is messed up. I've been watching Tucker and the magnitude and sheer ballitude of those conservatives who think Bush is showing "leadership" pardoning Libby's conviction of perjury while at the same time criticizing Clinton's lie about a blowjob is making my head spin.
But the only thing worse than Bush's lack of respect of the rule of law are the Democrats. I haven't heard a cogent argument (besides Cheney taking over) that Bush shouldn't or doesn't deserve to be impeached, only that political considerations of a fresh Democratic Congress and the (un)likelihood of conviction renders such overtures as pointless.
In other words, it's OK for us to disregard the rule of law regarding our law-breaking president, but somehow when Bush disregards the rule of law, its wrong all of a sudden?
So before we ride the wave of diaries decrying Bush's lack of respect of the rule of law and criticizing conservative hypocrisy regarding Clinton's "lie", I'm just pointing out that we might want to take a look at our own thoughts on the matter.
