Seems Mr. Bush now believes government should be responsive to the people's will.
"The fundamental question is, will the government respond to the demands of the people," the president said. "And if the government doesn't ... respond to the demands of the people, they will replace the government."
Of course that wasn't our government he was talking about; it was Maliki's.
"That's up to the Iraqis to make that decision, not American politicians."
Nor the American populace evidently.
"The Iraqis will decide," Bush insisted. "They have decided they want a constitution."
That exporting democracy thing must have worked because we seem to be currently out-of-stock, our constitutional shelves stripped bare.
I, for one, think it's about time we replenished our supplies, time our Congresscritters undo the damage of this administration. Time to shove that "fundamental question" down the unitary executive's terror-stricken throat until our own constitution is restored.
Send this question to your critter.
Remind them that it is past time to do the will of the people. Give Mr, Bush his answer. It is time to end the war in Iraq. Time to uphold the constitution. Time to advocate the balance of power.
Time to make democracy work at home.
