A new coal gasification plant is on it's way, unless we take the time to join together to stop it.
This proposed Coal Gasification Plant will release 3.9 million tons of CO2 annually! Plans for the $2billion project do not include carbon capture and sequestration.
Today we can rise to the challenge and fight global warming. The efforts of Citizens Action Coalition, caused the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to reopen the Duke Coal Gasification Plant case, holding a public hearing in Bloomington on August 29th.
The impact of CO2 emissions from a new coal plant is not just a state issue. The problem is truly a national and global issue as the consequences of global warming affects us all.
Make the jump to find out how you can write a simple letter that will affect the out come of the hearing to be held this Wednesday, August 29th...
It is a simple but powerful act to submit your opposition in writing to the IURC at http://www.in.gov/...
We only have until Wednesday, Aug 29th to submit comments.
The format for written comments is as follows:
Re: Cause Number 43114, Opposition to Duke's IGCC Plant
Dear Commissioners,
[TEXT OF YOUR LETTER HERE]
Please include my comments in the public record.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME
Activists and citizens from all over will be attending the public hearing in Bloomington, Indiana on Wednesday to speak out against adding more CO2 to our one sky. Indiana citizens have been submitting letters and one man is even riding his bike about 60 miles from Indianapolis to Bloomington to speak up against this insult to our planet. The more written support they have from all over, the better.
The Wall Street Journal reported on July 25, 2007, "Coal plants have come under fire because coal is a big source of carbon dioxide, the main gas blamed for global warming, in a time when climate change has become a hot-button political issue...Recent reversals in Florida, North Carolina, Oregon and other states have shown coal's future prospects are dimming..."
Real change can be made: plant by plant, state by state. Now is the time to take action, we know what to do & we know how to do it!
