MIT student arrested for wearing a blinking sweatshirt to the airport.

Star Simpson is a 19 year old MIT student. By her own account she seems to be of the eccentric caste, an inventor and builder of little gizmos. She made the mistake of wearing one of her favored sweatshirts to the airport to meet a friend from an arriving flight. The blinking lights on her sweatshirt alarmed the airport staff and she was arrested. By the account of the Boston police representative, she was very nearly blown away if she didn't comply exactly as they ordered.
What exactly does a bomb look like these days?
I have to ask, honestly. I haven't seen the most recent fashion in bombs. Apparently clothing bombs seem to be the fad with all the kids. Same for anything with a series of blinking lights. This is the second time that authorities in Boston have had a huge mobilization over the discovery of blinking lights on a device.

Are James Bond villains making these bombs? They also need the guy in the pastel jumpsuit to do the backward countdown to detonation.
This is a serious charge against this young woman. I wonder if she will be fully prosecuted for this. I don't blame the authorities for investigating, but looking at her ensemble it is pretty apparent to me that she didn't have a bomb. But then, as I stated, I am not up on the latest bomb fashions. I suspect most terrorists that want to succeed would try to hide their device, not have blinking neon colors to give away their intent. Speaking of intent, is it necessary to prove intent in order to prove the desire to perpetuate a hoax?
So what is the solution? Do we make LEDs illegal?
