“Buy The premise, Buy The Bit”
- Johnny Carson
No shit, there I was,
sitting in the barber shop,
listening to the arguments
about going to war with Iran today,
or waiting until next week.
FOX was on the TVs,
and little blue boats were zipping around
our Navy ships in Hormuz,
like US Navy SEALS tearing around San Diego Harbor.
I was as surprised as anybody
when I blurted out,
“ Hey - who do you think is driving those boats ?”
There was silence for a moment.
Mr. 24% growled,
“Who do you think, those damned Iranians.
we can’t have another USS Cole, why didn’t the Navy just shoot the f*ck*ers ?”
And I asked,
“OK, why DIDN’T the Navy shoot them ?”
Mr 24%’s reasoned comeback was,
“If it was ME on the bridge,
those r*gheads would have got hosed by a Gatling gun”.
Thanks for playing.
I'm probably the last guy to wonder, but:
Who was driving the boats ?
Where did they come from ?
Where did they go ?
Why were they allowed to come within camcorder distance ?
So, which is a more probable scenario ?
A. Iranian sailors were driving the little blue boats,
and survived the experience because our Navy was afraid to shoot.
B The Navy knew the boats were friendly, knew they were coming, and had orders to let them drive around.
I came home wondering,
“How many takes did the Blackwater guy with a camcoarder need to get it right ?”
