Hardees makes a really great burger. Since 2005, when they began to use only Angus beef, I have supported Hardees with all my fast-food dollars. Especially when they came out with that one on the sourdough bread, mmmm! However, I have determined lately that there is no way that Hardees will surpass McDonalds or Burger King to become the pre-eminent fast food franchise in the US. Thus, instead of wasting my money at Hardees, I will be switching to Burger King, a franchise that has a chance to knock McDonalds from the top spot.
"Why bother?" you might ask? "Well, who asked you anyway!" I might answer. However, as long as you hypothetical readers are hypothetically asking, I guess I might as well respond to your hypothetical points.
You might be inclined to suggest that both McDonalds and Burger King make decent enough cheap mediocre hamburgers, so why should I care which one comes out on top? OK, fair enough. And you might also argue that it's my money, so I should go ahead and spend it on whichever combination of ground meat sandwich, fried salted potatoes and carbonated beverage that I prefer, regardless of what other people are buying. Well, that's another good point too.
Perhaps you will note that all the data aren't in yet for 2008, and Hardees might possibly outsell its larger competetors. Hey, what do you think you are, anyway, a fortune teller? And you might say that Hardees will never get a chance to compete with the two Big Dogs on the Burger Block if everyone stops going there for such flimsy reasons. All right already, you've made your point! I'm off to Hardees for lunch. Maybe I'll run into John Edwards there.
