Director Timothy P. Ryan 786-263-6010 Please - everyone start calling Mr. Ryan - be respectful this guy has a tough job, but lets put the pressure on to get this hero out of general lock up - and get this Ryan guy on Mr. Lotero's support team.
I violated guideline by copy/pasting entire denverpost.com article so I've deleted it entirely. No quotes - to read what the soldier has to say go to denverpost.com and hopefully the article is still available.
Mr. Lotero was arrested after a Miami cop ran his info responding to a domestic dispute.
The soldier is diagnosed with PTSD. The army claims that PTSD does not count as disability. This guy watched his buddies blown to pieces right in front of him.
He's met with congressional delegates - no help.
When all other options were exhausted - and he was ordered to remain in service even after being diagnosed with PTSD - he had no choice but to kill himself of go awol. Iraq is hell - and wounded Veterans need our FULL support.
I'm ashamed of the Army - I'm ashamed of the American people for allowing a Soldier to be treated this way and I'm hoping - that if enough people see his story they will help.
Mr. Lotero is not the only soldier going through this. This is not an isolated incident. He just happens to be the only one with any media attention right now. We've all heard the stories about suicide rates - well this is why. PTSD disabled veteran victimized by Army chooses to go home to live with his Dad to recover and is arrested b/c army has him as awol not recognizing a confirmed diagnosis of PTSD.
