This is another one of those mixed up, only a few people will read diaries.
I voted for Edwards, long before he suspended his campaign. I'm a middle aged, upper middle class, professional, and a white woman. I've voted Democrat since 1982 or so. I was a Goldwater Republican and then an Anderson independent in 1980. There are a lot of others on this blog just like me...okay...more of them are guys...but whatever.
Below the fold is a few things where all the over~the~top diaries are getting on my nerves.
What lots of you are doing to annoy the other bloggers:
1. Presuming that because we are over 40 that I don't understand anyone under 40. Alternatively behaving as if anyone under 40 is clueless.
Wrong: All generations since the beginning of time has thought that way...and still a crock of crap.
2. Presuming a white woman I will vote for a woman for President.
Wrong: Some of us are old enough to remember what we fought for in the 1970's and it was hiring or electing or selecting someone on account of sex.
Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
3. Presuming the upper-middle class that I'm going to support more progressive / or less progressive candidates.
Wrong: We are going to vote for a candidate based on their policies and very few diaries around here articulate poliicies.
4. Presuming college educated voters are more likely to be informed on the issues than someone that has a blue collar job.
Wrong: I learned politics at home, listening to my parents. Neither one went to college, one was a union carpenter and the other a seamstress. They read the paper, they read books and they talked to people. The guy working on my landscaping project was well informed and on his way out to vote last night when I got home. He's hispanic, a legal immigrant, and a few years from now after his daughter graduates from college (at age 20!) will move back to Mexico. In the meantime he's talking to people, including me, about what I think of the propositions and candidates.
Once again...a plea for information in your diaries and stop with the inflammatory titles. Some of us will read the diaries and are generally giving up on the comments.
I'm asking that the flame throwing, "vote for my candidate or you are an idiot" diaries slow down. Please stop with sexism, ageism, racism, and any other -ism that comes to mind. Just give it up cause you aren't doing the final Democratic nominee any favors. The race is now effectively tied in delegates. Both campaigns need the voters to help GOTV between now and the convention.
Try not to piss off those of us that have already voted, will vote soon, or just are tired of the flame throwing. I'm going to consider that if you write a flame throwing diary you are a GOP troll trying to disrupt those of us that want to read about policies. Recipes are collected and at the ready.
