In his A Daily Show interview, Tim Gunn pointed out that
"I'm the first to encapsulate this realistically. Nobody needs it. We need clothes, do we need fashion? No. And fashion, when it's good, comes out of a context that's societal and cultural and historic and economic and political -- so it's of a time and a place."
That kairos idea with regards to fashion in larger context makes sense...and kind of explains New Wave. (heh)
As I'm watching a re-run of PR two weeks ago, I'm fascinated by the reconstruction of the iconic "working man's clothes" (aka blue jeans). Taking jeans and white t-shirts to try and develop something new and fresh while keeping the thing that inspires--the 501 jeans.

So the new episode is coming up in a few moments. And as I watch, I'm working on my own green version project. The pattern is also in the Fall Interweave magazine. Finished the back late last night. So now I've started on part of the front...and I am learning to read the pattern/instructions the hard way.
Yes, this is my first sweater. So my learning curve is huge. Luckily there are a few people I can ask questions of...and there's a whole bunch of stuff online that can help me figure out some of these crazy instructions.
As for the novel...it's in progress. I've figured out that there was a murder. We only see hints of it here and there. It was a professional hit. So the person who did the deed isn't the same person who is ultimately going to get busted for it.
