There is a big thread by Jerome Armstrong on MyDD this AM about a LA Times column by black civil right activist and long timeformer NAACP staffer Michael Meyers titled Obama Blew It wherein he finds Obama's address the other day lacking in many ways.
I think that before we simply accept the word of a black "expert" on race relation we need to look at some of his recent positions on various issues. He seems to get a lot of ink and air time based on his contrarian views.
For example see the Washington Post column Let the Idiocy Be Heard where he defends Don Imus and other racist shock jocks.
And see this discussion of his views on how a recent rash of nooses is "no big deal" and could just be practical jokes since "We don't know why people are doing this"
And take a look at this commentary from Media Maters Michael Meyers denied that Clinton appointed minorities to "real jobs" about an appearance by Meyers on Fox News' Hannity & Colmes where he
suggested that former President Bill Clinton failed to appoint African-Americans to "real jobs" in his administration, asserting that Clinton's appointments of minorities were merely "window dressing" compared with the prominent minority appointments by President Bush.
