DailyKos today has been full of handwringing Obama supporters worried that the Reverand Jeremiah Wright has sunk the Obama candidacy by reappearing today at the National Press Club and generally not shutting his trap.
My message to Obama supporters - get a friggin' clue! If the original controversy did not sink Obama, with the clip showing "God damn America" repeated ad nauseum, and in fact Obama's national standing relatively unchanged since before the hubbub, how is a much tamer interview going to do squat to Obama?
Sure, Dana Milbank, usually more of a voice of reason, thinks this is a disaster for Obama. But since when has the MSM been anything but apoplectic about anything whiffing of scandal when it comes to Obama this primary season? Since when did it prove anything more than a speed bump? Superdelegates continue to drift his way, and Clinton just doesn't have a chance to catch up, no matter how hard anybody tries. There is just no "there" there. Barack Obama is your Democratic nominee. Rev. Wright does nothing to change that. When this race gets to a one-on-one matchup between Obama and McCain, the poll numbers will start to reflect the strength of our candidate when people get a chance to compare Obama and McCain without the distraction of an ongoing primary.
Buck up Obama people!
