In the strangest of circumstances that could only bring about the closest of races, Hillary Rodham Clinton finished with 49.9% of the vote of the Guam Democratic Caucus, just 7 votes shy of Barack Obama's total of 50.1%. While Obama led for the vast majority of the night's tallying, Clinton needed a strong finish in the municipality of Dededo, Guam's most populous village. And she did - gaining 61% of the 822 votes counted by the Democratic Party of Guam.
Note: these are unofficial, uncertified results as tabulated by the Democratic Party of Guam. The DPG also noted a high number of spoiled ballots in Dededo.
trying to confirm results...Hillary won the last village 509-313.
2264 for Obama............2257 for Hillary, out of 4521 total votes
CNN confirmed the final tally?
found confirmation from another site heres the link http://www.guampdn.com/...
(from andy winer's post...... Just Spoke to the Guam GOTV Coordinator
One of the three is Ria Baldevia, who is originally from Guam, but has served as the chair of the Students for Obama here in Hawaii. Ria just spent a sleepless night waiting for returns, and she described incredible scenes at the caucus locations where Obama and Clinton supporters were fiercely campaigning all the way until a voter walked through the doors.
Ria confirmed what you might expect. Without a presence in Guam, Clinton would have walked away with this caucus. Instead, the national campaign put human and monetary resources into this race, and, as a result, we are getting to celebrate a victory.
Great job by the national campaign in committing resources, and congratulations to those 3 hard working field staff members.
