Give this a chance...
I've been struggling with my damn digital camera for many stupid reasons that I'd rather not go into. It's sad.
But I took some photos in the past couple of days of Gary and Charlotte with my phone, my loves and I wanted to share. I hope you will share some of your personal photos. Gary my husband is running for California State Senate in Orange County, very red County. I wanted to share why I fight against such great odds.
These are the reasons we fight, why we cry and why we ache. We know that there is so much better for everyone in this Country and that every single person deserves dignity, opportunity and respect. That is what we fight for as progressives.
Skin color, accent, original birth place don't matter, people here are part of our Country, our Culture and our communities. Love them all.
Gary and Charlotte at Claim Jumpers, we enjoyed a lovely dinner after our first precinct walk as a family!
Charlotte in one of her new summer dresses. She also had a lady bug painted on her face. It's one of her favorite things to hunt for and collect.
Waiting in line to deposit some ActBlue checks. Charlotte holds up one of Gary's cards...
Just for the hell of it, you know! And I have to share that I was on the Thom Hartmann show yesterday and Thom wants to feature Gary in a segment he calls "Take back America". If you have ITunes, you can download the hour two from May 21st, I'm at the half hour point.
I put it on cd and played it for Gary. It was so wonderful to have people I know tell me they heard me and that I did great. And we raised a few hundred dollars as well! Taking risks, doing things by the seat of my pants has brought interesting results for Gary's campaign.

About the candidate. I keep writing these damn diaries and I feel like it's a waste of time on some days but writing about it keeps me motivated and keeps me thinking about why we do this, why we run and why we care.
A Local blog wrote about Gary and they asked a very good question, "Why won’t the O.C. Register write about the Democratic candidate for the 33rd Senate District?"
But to answer your question: it’s because Gary Pritchard has zero chance of winning. It has nothing to do with him. Judging by the comments his wife writes, he’s probably a very fine man. But the registration is so lopsided in the 33rd, he doesn’t have a chance.
...
Why won’t the O.C. Register write about the Democratic candidate for the 33rd Senate District?
As Matt alluded too and I’ll say more bluntly, he’s irrelevant.
A couple of Republicans let us know why we can't get press, we don't matter and we don't have a chance. Not unless we raise obscene amounts of money. Hard to do that when you don't have the right connections and you don't know where to begin. So, I'm asking again, please consider giving our campaign just a few dollars.
And this is how important it is, Al Gore sent out this letter on behalf of the Courage Campaign about the budget crisis in California. If we can get TWO more Democrats in the State Senate we can break this legislative gridlock and maybe Republicans won't take their seats for granted.
Dear Heather,
I don't write emails like this often.
But, with Californians facing a massive budget crisis and potentially devastating cuts to education, I feel compelled to speak out. As members of the Courage Campaign community, I hope you will speak out as well.
I recorded this one-minute video for the Courage Campaign on Current.com. Please watch it and let me know what you think by recording a short video or typing a written response of your own:

Jann Wenner, the publisher of Rolling Stone magazine, asked me an interesting question in an interview a few months ago:
"How do we engineer the sweeping social and political and industrial change that we need in a short period of time, from top to bottom?"
My answer is that we must create a shift in consciousness -- and, education is the catalyst for this shift.
That's why I recorded this video for the Courage Campaign. Please watch it on Current.com and, if you feel so inspired, respond with a webcam video or text response of your own:

Education is not a partisan issue. It is a crucial building block toward creating a more informed democracy. We can solve the climate crisis, and every other problem facing our nation, if we begin by transforming America's priorities on education.
As parents, teachers and students speak out about these proposed cuts, they need your support, now more than ever. Please forward this message to your friends who care about the future of California and our country as much as you do.
I hope you will take a moment today to record a short webcam video or write a response to my video. Your voice, and the voices of your friends, can change the conversation in California.
Thank you,
Al Gore
So, if you can help my loves, please do, just $10 from 100 people could put us on the map in Orange County, putting all progressives on the map here and putting Republicans on notice!

Endorsements so far...
UAW, Region Five
Democracy for American, Orange County
My husband also got his own union's endorsement at Cerritos College.
We are working on so many more. And Gary's walking almost everyday after summer school, he's walking to talk to people and ask for their vote. EVERYDAY he does something for this campaign as I do. And we have volunteers to help us walk, real volunteers! We think we do have a chance if we talk to enough voters, why? Because who ever wins the Primary will not walk districts, they don't have the time and I personally don't think they care.
THANK YOU. They say be careful what you ask for :) I have to get to bed, I was going to go two hours ago, thanks for keeping me up for such an awesome reason. I will respond to every single comment tomorrow. Democrats are the best! Daily Kos is too.
What a wonderful thing to wake up too, still on the list!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!!!!!
All politics are local, I get that now.
