Yes, there are thousands of new users on DailyKos every month.
Yes, a lot of diaries are opinions.
Yes, there are a lot of absolutely amazing diaries that are loaded with facts and links that are the heart and soul of DailyKos.
BUT there are so many outrageous assertions that are posted on a daily basis that I kind of wonder what happened to some of the old stand-by questions:
Where's the link?
What's your source?
Prove it with facts?
I've waited until after the week plus Democratic VP hyper~ventilation was over. So, the first thing this afternoon I glance down the list of recent diaries. There were a few diaries on substance and fortunately they made the Recommended list. But now we are getting into a week of GOP VP speculation. On the list I find an attack on Mitt Romney's religion and why it precludes him from being VP. I read through the diary and comment thread and was appalled at the lack of information cited by almost everybody in the diary. Only one or two people were even close to having correct answers. There is a substantial amount of speculation that goes on based on old wives tales.
Considering that I have little or no use for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, LDS, it is interesting that it prompts this diary. My story...a long time ago. What does prompt this then? I have a large number of family members in Utah, some devout Mormons, some not. But I am working very hard on getting the independent ones to read more political blogs.
So, this random diary was posted.
For more information ~ before you feel compelled to diss someone else's religion, in this case the Mormons, check out the following pages:

Are Mormon's Christian (Beliefnet Blog)
For the cynics...please note that I did not include the LDS site for information. The links are from an alternative site that addresses all types of spiritual beliefs.
For most of us religion, spirituality, or non~belief is a personal matter. Those that don't understand that these are emotional can defeat any efforts to encourage those of different religions to join the "Big Tent" of the Democratic Party. There are lots of 'independent' voters in places like Utah and Idaho. There are lots of Catholics that were bashed around here during the "Pope Wars" and earlier this year we have been subjected to falsehoods about Mormons.
Are we any better than the GOP bashing the Islamic religion when diaries bashing an alternative Christian religion occur on DailyKos?
