This is a short diary, but has breaking news (sort of) about a subject dear to the heart of most Kossacks: beer. The Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, producer of several fine microbrews, has produced two new offerings: Obama08 and McCain2008. Naturally I have only sampled the Obama brew (reviewed below).
But the important thing is that they are tracking votes and Obama is way ahead! Obama is outselling McCain 1920 to 16 (at 1030 Pacific time)! These are only mail order sales, but my local bodega says he is selling mostly Obama and not much call for McCain. Some voters are evidently undecided. They buy one of each.
More to drink below the fold.
Obama Ale is a light but full-flavored ale, reminding me of some good ales I've enjoyed in England. It is available only in the Republic of California, but residents of the Golden State can order four-packs for $15 (so it corresponds to the price of a pint when I was in London this month. Summing up: I endorse it with no reservations.
This might be a nice treat at fundraisers, or just to enjoy after a day of canvassing.
I thought you'd like to know, and have no reservations about promoting our local (about a mile from my place) brewery faced with the opening of a mall next-door with increased competition (the Brewery is also a restaurant that makes a nice fish-and-chips, located in our harbor. Their websitealso has good information about Maverick's Surfing and its famous annual contest, which will take place when the waves are breaking just right.
Those of you who are out-of-state might consider coming out here to work for one of our progressive candidates and sample these and other brews or wine (but try not to appear elitist!)
