The question asks "What is your novel about?"
The answer starts out "It's about" followed by a word, a sentence, a paragraph discussing what the novel is about.
In my case, it's a first person narrative about a woman who is invited to come and help take care of her aunt's bookstore while the aunt goes on a long needed vacation. When she arrives at the store, she finds that things are not quite what she expected...including the fact that the aunt takes off in search of the pirate's object even before the protagonist gets there. And that's where things start to get interesting...
Because of the dreaded Writer's Block that I haven't really been able to kick, I'm trying to switch gears to sneak into the story from another angle whilst inching along with the story itself.
Yes, this is still kind of an extension of me needing a plan. And while I realise that I don't need to have a micro-managed plan in which I outline every little step that my protagonist takes to get to the goal..
What is the goal? Rescue Aunt Ginny? Help Ginny get home? Prevent Mr. Anton McBad Guy from getting a hold of the statue? Get the statue to where it needs to be? Fall in love? Realise something deeper about herself...though I'm not sure what?
So I'm thinking of something a bit looser re: The Plan. From what I've been reading in my own "reading as a writer" experiences, I've concluded the obvious :-)
A novel has
- a beginning;
- a middle;
- an end.
So, as I sit here with Danger Kitty snuggled up to me, I'm now trying to sort out what my beginning (the thing I've already written), middle, and end are looking like. After all, I was headed into the middle when I hit the 50K words from November.
After much ado, the antagonist has made his appearance on the stage tossing around a threat or two...not to mention more than a few demands.
One thing I've started doing is filling in the gaps as to what's going on and I've done some digging with regards to looking at what some of the different websites are looking at re: plot lines.

So how's the writing going?
