and also a bit from the Daily Howler
Some historical facts...
"This is not that rough a democratic primary"
http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/
A choice quote
In 1992, Bill Clinton started running negative ads against Paul Tsongas and Bob Kerrey in New Hampshire. The Republicans this year have been running negative ads since Iowa. Heck, even in 2004 Gephardt and Dean went nuclear on each other early. The history of Presidential primaries is not a game of patty-cake.
So why this year is it all in play when...
...the only negative ads in the Democratic primary so far ran for a day until both sides yanked them.
Well the Howler likes to talk about 'Rubes'. These are liberals who don't recognize the impact the corrupt press corps has on the discourse...and on our elections...and the lives of soldiers and all the rest of us.
Here's a little piece of the howler today...talking about the column by Dionne.
DIONNE (1/25/08): "Let's grant the Clintons their claims: The press is tougher on Hillary Clinton than it is on Barack Obama; the old, irrational Clinton hatred is alive and well in certain parts of the media; Hillary Clinton gets hit harder when she criticizes Obama than Obama does when he goes after her."
Finally! Ten to fifteen years later, E. J. finally notices something about "certain parts of the media." Omigod! Fifteen years after the Whitewater hoaxings; fifteen years after the murder charges (later rerun on Hardball, of course); eight years after the war against Clinton’s vice president (the one who’s now honored all over the world); after a full year of rank gender-trashing; E. J. finally notes a few facts about "certain parts" of his cohort! Finally! "The press is tougher on Hillary Clinton than it is on Barack Obama," he finally tells us; "the old, irrational Clinton hatred is alive and well in certain parts of the media." But isn’t it just like a gut-bucket coward?
I'll leave it there in the hopes you will give him a visit, though fair use might reasonably take it a little further.

My point: Last night I cast a vote in a poll asking if you would vote for McCain over your third choice Dem candidate. At the time I voted almost thirty percent declined to vote for the Dem.
A plea: Don't let the insanity that the press loves to spread infect you...it is dangerous for you and your children.
