So Barack Obama was just announced as having won the South Carolina primary going away on MSNBC. Awesome.
But five seconds after Olbermann announces it David Gregory has to chime in we have to see about the numbers about the white vote to see what it means.
WHY?
How ironic that the Democratic Party chose to move up South Carolina's primary and protect it to ensure that a state with a large black electorate would have a say in our party's nominee yet our white media pundits wants to discount all black voters to say only the opinions of whites in that state matter. WTF?
Look, I am a Barack Obama supporter. But I refuse to believe as a white Barack Obama supporter my support of Obama matters more than someone who has another skin color.
I do not think that every black supporter supports Barack Obama because of his skin color.
I also refuse to believe the dedicated white supporters of Hillary Clinton and John Edwards do so because they share skin color.
Sure there are some who will vote for or against these candidates because of their skin color or gender or accent, but that's not how most voters work.
And how ironic that networks that a year ago were asking whether Obama has been black enough have now been working themselves into a frenzy about him being the "black candidate."
Never mind that he had a white mother and was raised by white grandparents and has the middle name Hussein and has to fight false Muslim smears on a daily basis and was born in Hawaii yet defeated the wife of a former president and a son of the South in his birth state tonight...
We can't assess this until we find out how he did in the "white vote."
You know what media?
Give me a break. This is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen.
Shame on you. Shame. On. You.
