So I'm sitting watching a movie last night when I received a call I certainly didn't expect.
The result? Good news, I think, for this country.
I have a friend who certainly does not fit the demographics here at the Big Orange. He's middle-aged, works a white collar job, admits to being a conservative and regularly votes Republican, and is an outspoken evangelical Christian who, despite our agreements not to do so, regularly tries to save me -- eventhough I had been saved a long time ago.
He's also black, which really means nothing to me, but may have meaning in the context of the call.
So at 9:15 PM EST or so last night. I get a call from my evangelical rightwingospheric friend, who breathlessly asks, "Have you seen the Iowa results?"
I replied that I hadn't yet, and asked him how the rethuglicans were doing, since I had been under the impression he would be one of the Huckabee's suporteers.
His reply?
"I could care less about the Huckster. I don't trust him. I don't want my ministers in the White House, I want them to stay in God's house."
then, as I was picking my jaw off the floor, he -- with great enthusiasm --laid me out with the real stunner:
No, I was calling about Obama! Did you see that he's winning? I may actually get to vote for a Democrat in November!!
Methinks the Kool-Aid may have worn off
