A survey of 725 likely voters from SurveyUSA has John McCain up 1% over Barack Obama.
The poll was taken 9/30 to 10/01. Now before everyone freaks out and starts wearing sackcloth and ashes, head over to 538.com. SUSA has consistently polled MN at a tie pretty much since Obama clinched the nomination. So based on trends from their last poll, this is merely statistical noise.
And to those who are about to savage SUSA as a shitty pollster, while they tend to have screwy internals (just check out their breakdowns by race to see what I mean), they have a pretty darn good track record. Now, I don't really think MN is heading into the McCain column. If this poll reflected reality on the ground, we would see urgent action from the Obama campaign (like a sudden uptick in ad buys, and several rallies planned). As far as I can tell, that has not happened.
Also, in the senate race, they have Coleman at 43%, Franken at 33%, and some dude I never heard of at 19%. Considering how they have consistently shown close numbers in the Pres race here, these senate numbers are not all that surprising.
So Minnesotans, what do you think?
I did a search and did not see this diaried. I will delete if it has.
