I was over at Politico's Ben Smith's blog and going through my daily routine of reading everything he has posted thus far today and I was pleasantly suprised by the number of ads going or on the air around the country from the Obama campaign and outside groups.
With only a month to go before election day, this is exactly what we need to do. Define John McCain until it sticks in peoples minds. Below are a few of the ads:
This is an ad from the Obama campaign hitting John McCain on his free spending ways. This is a line of attack that the Republicans usually use against Democrats, but Sen Obama has turned this one around on McCain.
This is an ad from the independent group the Public Campaign Action Fund. The ad hits John McCain on his connections to Charles Keating and deregulation.
This is an ad from Planned Parenthood airing in key battleground states. This ad is different from the others in that Sarah Palin is the main line of attack with John McCain weaved into it as well. It hits McCain/Palin on their lack of support for rape victims and how as mayor Sarah Palin wanted rape victims to pay for their investigations.
This last ad is from the California Nurses Association, its called one heartbeat away. Its also airing in key battleground states, it highlights how close Sarah Palin would be from the Presidency if John McCain were elected President.
**Update: The Obama campaign is also out with a new Spanish language ad airing only in FL hitting John McCain on healthcare, the ad's narrator is a boy with cancer and he speaks about how John McCain's health care plan leaves out people with pre conditions, although I don't speak Spanish it seems to be very powerful.
Overall I think these all are effective ads and they hit McCain on the core issues that seem to be driving people away from McCain, the economy and Sarah Palin. All the polls show Sen Obama with the lead nationally and in battleground states, this election is certainly ours for the taking.
Don't stop now though keep donating to the campaign, phonebanking, canvassing or whatever you're doing to ensure that Sen Obama is our 44th President.
