I've got one question in particular that I'd like to see asked at the debate, and/or by the press, and there must be a lot of other good ideas for questions out there in the dKos community. What questions do you have for the press to be asking and for the debate?
The topic I'm chiefly concerned with is all this insinuation, fear-mongering, race-baiting, etc., etc., etc., that must be addressed at the next debate, and taken head-on by the press. These things are dominating the McCain-Palin campaign, and it would be irresponsible of the debate moderator to let these potentially dangerous attacks get put under the rug when there's company over for dinner (or in this case, half the country watching on their televisions).
So can we please get an answer from McCain, directly, to the question,
"Do you believe that Barack Obama is hiding any part of his personal or political history that would in any way make him unfit to be President?"
Or something along those lines. Maybe it should be more open-ended, or more specific - whatever would get us to McCain saying whether he believes Barack Obama is dangerous or simply that Obama is proposing dangerous policies. Get him and Palin to either put up or shut up, and discredit their last few weeks of TRULY dangerous personal smears and fear-mongering - and discourage it as much as possible for the weeks to come.
What other questions do you want to see asked by the press and at the debate?
In addition to whatever much-appreciated truly funny things that people will post, let's also really try to create some questions that could plausibly be asked, and with simple, effective structure that would effectively address issues head-on.
(As a sidenote, and as a good example of a line of questioning - and I can't believe I'm using her as an example - but I really appreciated Katie Couric's getting Sarah Palin to say she agreed that there is a constitutional right to privacy - a foundation of the Roe v. Wade decision.)
