Folks, you couldn’t make this up if you tried. It would appear that John McCain’s campaign is self-destructing.
That’s the only explanation for John McCain picking to head his presidential transition team William Timmons, a lobbyist who worked on behalf of, and no, I’m not kidding, Saddam Hussein. Timmons, with two other lobbyists, Samir Vincent and Tongsun Park lobbied on behalf of Saddam Hussein to ease the international sanctions against Iraq in the infamous food for oil scheme investigated by the UN.

During Park’s trial for being an unregistered agent of Iraq, records provided in discovery it was discovered that all three lobbyists had close ties to Hussein top aides, Tariq Aziz and Nizar Hamdoon, clearing their lobbying efforts with the top aides. Timmon’s, it was reported, actually bragged that he had the original idea for the "food-for-oil" scheme which was supposed to be a humanitarian effort but was used to funnel money to the Hussein regime.
"We're talking about billions and billions of dollars here
that were diverted for many wrong purposes. And this is an
example of corruption."
That’s what John McCain said in 2004 on Fox News.
Now we went to war with Saddam Hussein, in part, because he found a way around the sanctions, a way provided by William Timmons. And four years later, John McCain wants him to work his magic to make his move into the White House smooth.
Someone needs to explain to McCain that Timmons’ last boss was executed for war crimes.
