Things have gotten bad here in America. Actions have been taken by usurpers which must be immediately addressed by an Obama administration. If these vital changes are not made rapidly and with much fanfare I will begin to fear, which as a bit of a conspiracy nut I secretly believe, that our friend is merely another shadow on the cave wall.
Thomas Jefferson said:
"Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers, too plainly prove a deliberate, systematic plan of reducing [a people] to slavery." --Thomas Jefferson: Rights of British America, 1774. (*) ME 1:193, Papers 1:125
When in 2006 we were able to elect a majority Democratic congress I was truly hoping the necessary changes would begin implementation. I was wrong. They did not work hard to get us out of Iraq(which is, arguably, the reason they were elected). We did not get articles of impeachment until Dennis Kucinich was widely ignored this past summer. There was no real effort to reestablish our opposition to torture. There was opposition by Obama himself to restricting the illegal wire tapping powers of the president...I don't want him to "closely monitor" the dissolution of the rights of American citizens I want him to restore them. They have not worked to restore my rights which have been lost to the "distinguished period" which allowed the nefarious and illegal Bush administration to stab the constitution in the back with the patriot act and its spawn.
I have not heard the necessary outcry against the current madness of King George: that the president does not have to follow rules like Posse Commitatus.
Where is the press on this issue?!? Where is democratic opposition to this?
It is my belief that the Bill Ayers controversy is more about stoking fear of "domestic terrorists" in the people than any real attack on Obama. It has proven a failed strategy, why kick this dead horse if not to get people ready to stand with the government against opposition voices and welcome U.S. Armed Forces actions against its own people.
Controversial statement alert:
Bill Ayers was not a terrorist. He was a revolutionary. He was active at one of the darkest times in U.S. history. We were entrenched in an illegal and immoral war which the government was forcing the young men of this country to kill and die for. The (earlier) nefarious and proven illegal Nixon regime was killing young protesters on college campuses. The real terrorists like Liddy were on the government payroll.
Again I yield to the founder:
"The oppressed should rebel, and they will continue to rebel and raise disturbance until their civil rights are fully restored to them and all partial distinctions, exclusions and incapacitations are removed." --Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Religion, 1776. Papers 1:548
To restate my thesis: An Obama administration must move quickly and with authority to restore the rights of the people.
If he does not I fear we may all be fools.
