I intended for this diary to be about today's gallup daily tracker soon to be released. But I changed my mind. Seeing as how this gallup poll will reflect 2 days of predebate and 1 day of postdebate I figured it would be give us a picture of a possible Obama bounce. I had the diary all written out without knowing the numbers because I was so certain that Obama would see a point or two increase. But I decided not to write that diary.
This diary is one based not on scientific polling, not on sophisticated voter projection methods but it is based on common sense and reality. The mood of this country is, for lack of a better phrase, fucking ROTTEN. I am a lucky american with a good job and health care and I am terrified of the financial situation this country is facing, I cant imagine what an unemployed steelworker in rural ohio is thinking. There is only one candidate out there right now speaking to that unemployed steelworker, and that is Barack Obama. John McCain squandered a good month of reaching out to the middle class by doing his campaign suspension stunt, resurrecting Palin's image and defending himself from his own supporters.
Now, I have seen a LOT of concern trolling here about the effects of Ayers, robocalling, ACORN, the bradley effect, Joe the fucking PLUMBER effect and others and frankly Im sick of it. Is the race tightening? Possibly. Will it be an Obama landslide? Maybe, maybe not. Will the Ayers attacks and robocalls and faux outrage over voter registration fraud turn a few voters away from Obama? Most certainly. And maybe, just maybe, that is what we are seeing in the polls. But folks remember, this is not 2000, this is not 2004. We are experiencing a bona fide crisis on our hands and voters KNOW that john mccain is more of the same. The polls are consistently showing that 60% of Americans fear that McCain will keep up the bush policies. Well, you say, people may be AFRAID of that foreigner Obama and get scared to vote for him. And to you I say two simple words: Joe Biden.
Joe Biden, to me, is what should keep all of you concern trolls from leaping to your death from Trump Tower with your 401k statement in one hand and a copy of the gallup daily tracker in the other. Our campaign has the luxury of saying to voters "You worried about Barack? Dont know him that well? Then look at Joe. Scranton boy with a heart of gold." If an undecided voter walks in to that booth and cant decide between McCain and Obama and has to look to the no.2 on the ticket, we win. We win every time.
Like clockwork in almost every presidential election the polls tighten as the time winds down to election day. This is HISTORY folks and if you cant accept it then go bury your head in the sand until Nov. 5 cuz its gonna happen. But remember this, and always, always, always remember it, when you are feeling low, feeling bumbed about national polls remember: Obama only has to keep the kerry states and win 18 more electoral votes.. that means (1) of ohio or florida, (2) of virginia, iowa, missouri, indiana, new mexico, colorado, nevada, north carolina. In poker terms, thats a LOT of outs people.
With that being said, lets listen to our next POTUS and dont get complacent, GOTV, canvass, call, donate and above all STOP FUCKING WORRYING SO MUCH!!!
