It is a rare rainy day here, the students are on break so I expected my early voting experience to be kind of mellow.
But there was a steady stream of voters, one arriving every minute or so. There was no line as they are ready for the avalanche when the students get back (I’ll report back then). There were a dozen election workers and even more booths to mark your ballot.
I was told that 3,000 voters turned out yesterday which was the first day of voting (120,000 total residents in the county).
The Republican for Congress (who has about a 0.0001 chance of winning) was handing out pocket sized constitutions. (for shredding?) Anyway that is cool. Maybe I will dress up as Senator Byrd for Halloween.
Obama and the Democratic party out in FORCE and a long line for the James Taylor/Obama tickets for Monday night.
Only GOP presence was the constitution guy who was kinda alternating hiding and lurking. I admire his effort. (PS he seemed to be only giving his constitutions to older white guys.)
We are very optimistic here in NC. (Go Hagen, Kissel and Obama! and cross our fingers for Perdue!)
PSS On my street there are Obama signs on both sides of the street on most (but not yet all) lawns (even though you have to go to the local Democratic party office and pay for the signs).
