If Socialism is to be defined, as the McCain’s and Palin’s of the world wish to define it, by a system of "spreading the wealth around" then on a United States level it would seem that any State that is the recipient of a disproportionate share of that system of wealth redistribution would be a truly "Socialist State".
To find an example of such a State you would have to look no farther than that shining beacon on the hill of Socialism - Alaska.
Yes Alaska. It seems that the land that gives us so much lately also taketh away dearly.
Below please:
Alaska, as the map below shows, in 2004 received $1.87 in Federal Taxpayer dollars for every $1.00 it returns to the Treasury.
Bingo! Socialist!
Actually it would appear that some of our most Red States are also some of our most "Socialist".
It would be most interesting to hear what the McCain/Palin camp would say about this obvious spread of American wealth. We heard over the weekend from Sarah Palin:
"There are socialist principles to that, yes," Palin said of Obama's tax plans. "Taking more from a small business or small business owners or from a hard-working families and then redistributing that money according to a politician's priorities -- there are hints of socialism in there and that's why I don't fault or discredit Joe the Plumber for bringing that up, asking if that is socialism."
Shouldn't the Red States like Alaska have to answer for their history of obvious Un-American Socialist ways? When will their kind finally stop living off of the hard work, toil and dedication of their real American Blue State neighbors?
