Obama 50.3%, McCain 42.4%: Tightening? LOL, No... he's just copying dKos now
Obama improved his numbers by 0.5 points over yesterday, topping 50% outright for the first time in the tracking survey of likely voters nationwide, but the notable movement was McCain's drop of two full points, settling at 42.4% in the three-day tracking poll. Obama leads McCain by 15 points among independent voters (50% to 35%), and is also winning 12% of the Republican vote, all the while retaining a firm grip on his Democratic base, winning 87% support from members of his own party.
McCain wins 84% of the Republican vote.
Obama leads by 21 points among those who have already voted, and also maintains a large lead among those who have registered to vote just in the last six months. He leads by two points among men and by 13 among women. He also leads in all but one age demographic - those aged 55-69 - where McCain has a scant one-point edge.

Austin/Travis Co
Travis County is reporting that 32,607 Austinites have already voted.
1771 people voted at the various mobile voting locations throughout Austin, 24207 people voted at the various early vote locations, and so far 8,400 mail ballots have been received. In the first 24 hours of early vote, 5.35% of all registered voters have cast a ballot in the capitol city.
Houston/Harris Co
Houston, TX - As of 6:51 pm on Oct. 20th 2008, the Harris County Clerk’s early voting statistics showed that 39,201 persons had been processed for voting in Harris County on the first day of early voting in-person for the Nov. 4th 2008 election. In the 2004 Election, a total of 20,868 persons were processed during the whole first day of early voting in–person. That is an 87.8% increase compared to the first day of early voting in-person in 2004.
Tarrant/Ft Worth
With 45 minutes to go in the first day of early voting, 25,018 people have cast ballots in Tarrant County, according to County Elections Administrator Steve Raborn.
That's about a 43 percent increase from the previous record - 17,500 - set on the first day of early voting in 2004.
