The LA Times just posted a story that the Public Policy Institute of California released a poll showing that Prop. 8 polls have switched and the polling is now 52% against and 44% in favor. The poll had a 3% margin of error.
The LA Times writes:
While California voters remain closely divided on the question of gay marriage, a majority oppose a measure to ban it, according to a poll released Wednesday by the Public Policy Institute of California.
But the poll also found that support for Proposition 8, which would amend the state Constitution to disallow same-sex marriage, has gained somewhat since a similar survey was taken in late August.
More after the jump.
This is excellent news and everyone should be commended for rallying to the cause due to the last poll. Lots of money was raised and more celebrities came out against Prop. 8.
But now is not the time to sit back on our laurels.
DONATE NOW!
[As an aside, a big kudos to NBA star Charles Barkley who said on a local Phoenix TV station that anyone who opposed gay marriage was an idiot. (When I ran the video, a pro-Prop. 102 - the gay marriage item in Arizona - ran just before Barkley made his quote. Hee!]
We can win this. Prop. 8 is hatred, pure and simple.
Let's keep reminding people that hate is not a California, Arizona or American value.
Update #1:
I just found this great new No on Prop. 8 ad.
Update #2:
Thank you, everyone, for getting this on the Rec List. This is a great sign of hope, but there is still work to do.

Update #3:
What a wonderful way to end the evening. Alas, I must head to bed and dream of equality for me and my future husband.
A very big word of gratitude for everyone's well wishes about our wedding on Nov. 1. It is so wonderful to be part of a great community.
Update #4:
Some members of this fine community believe the original title of this diary was misleading. I have made a change to that title.
Please do not take my bit of solace as complacency. We still have lots of work to do, but after the release of the SUSA poll, so many people were ready to throw in the towel.
There is nothing wrong with appreciating a breath of fresh air.
Update #5:
Digg it!
