I used to enjoy "Morning Joe", but Joe Scarborough's intense jealousy of Barack Obama and obvious despair at the state of his party is making him unwatchable. My question is this: If Republicans are so upset why don't they do something positive about it -- like come up with better policies and plans, or nominate better candidates? -- instead of tearing down a really superior candidate with fresh ideas like Barack Obama? Then we could have a grown-up discussion about the best direction for this country instead of the childish, disgraceful mudslinging that passes for campaigning.
And why does Mika B. allow herself to be bullied by Joe Scarborough? The show is much better when he's on vacation -- Mika is smart and they do book good guests. But Scarborough brings down the whole tone.
I know he was previously a politician himself, and I have come to the conclusion that he is so jealous of Barack Obama's amazing success that he just can't control himself. Scarborough started off this morning by carping about a turn of phrase Barack Obama used in a speech yesterday -- and I just had to turn off the TV. I mean, come on! Where's his outrage for the myriad infelicitous phrases that have tumbled from the lips of Republicans over the last month, from Michele Bachmann's clueless rant about "anti-American" members of congress to Sarah Palin's bizarre insistence that the Vice President is "in charge of" the Senate?
