We have so many insightful and powerful diaries written here at Daily Kos. Our diaries inform, inflame, impassion, and even entertain. We Kossacks have strong voices and an even stronger will to be the change we wish to see in this country.
One of the richest, and perhaps most under-appreciated, areas of thought come in the form of comments attached to these diaries.
Here at Top Comments we strive to recognize and promote the talent of this community by highlighting outstanding comments found throughout the day by the diarist, and through nominations at made at topcomments at gmail dot com by your fellow Kossacks.
These nominations are subjective, and certainly not complete (as no one can read the complete site on a daily basis!). But hopefully they will serve to shine a light where deserved, and to give the reader a good starting point in finding conversation on the site.

I. Fun With Sig Lines (Election Prediction Edition)
Here are parts one, two, three, four, five, six, and seven.
What I've done is collect little snippets of comments, diaries, or posts from elsewhere in the blogosphere that I felt would make funny signature lines. If you come across a good one, and you are so inclined, shoot me an email, and I'll try and include it in the next installment.
All of these have cracked me up for one reason or another:
On Sarah Palin:
Mark my words wilfred, she is not going to sink
On Obama:
The same goes for Obama. He's toting around a lot of petards and eventually they'll burst in his face
On Obama:
Obama's "Western strategy" seems to be more anemic than hoped for (that's what the "50 state strategy" turned into), maybe because McCain managed to find a VP who energizes Western voters
On how Obama can't win unless Palin makes an error:
but there is only 7 weeks left. I think now the Ob camp has to count on a huge unforced error, on her part
On Obama:
He seemed like a stronger campaigner months ago and now looks like he's hobbling towards the finish line
On the Obama campaign:
So much for them being prepared and actually fighting Swiftboat '08 which they knew damned will was coming
Shortly after the Palin pick:
the black hole creating the rash of earthquakes is actually caused by the hopes and dreams of Obama worshippers collapsing in on themselves
On Palin:
Americans like a W-I-N-N-E-R. They like someone who acts like he/she is a winner, no ifs, ands, or buts. In war and in campaigns (war!). That's Palin
On Obama:
Obama's handlers and promoters are so clueless it's surprising to me that they even have jobs
On Palin:
I would say it's more likely that Palin has read The Maine Woods than Obama has, as she appears to have more interest in the outdoors
On Obama's campaign, just a few weeks ago:
Look, get mad at Obama, he's the one running a campaign that is entirely bent on weak reaction
On Obama's campaign, just a few weeks ago:
I guess I should be clear that the reason I'm putting this up is because I want to point out that Obama is running the playbook of the Dukakis campaign
II. Tonight's Top Comments
Via o the umanity:
In ItsSimpleSimon's diary You're Either On The Bus or You're Off The Bus, I was particularly amused by this thread, where fleisch explains how the "Straight Talk Express" has been replaced.
Via Timroff:
In MissAnneThrope's sad-yet-amazing diary, Goodbye Cruel World.. You were beautiful while you lasted..., squidflakes gave some of the best advice I've seen in a long long time.
Via lineatus:
Lars Thorwald starts this hilarious thread in response to someone's worries about what tonight's 30 minute Obama video will include. A few additions by PBJ Diddy and Anarchofascist provide the finishing touches.
Via llbear:
greenies, in her IGTNT tribute honoring a gentle giant, illustrates why so many of us respect the members of the IGTNT team of writers. Beginning with greenies' comment to Otteray Scribe (a Gold Star dad), KentuckyKat questions his/her own posting of music appropriate to honor the memory of our troops. On this night when Sen. Obama lays out his vision for the next 4 years [make that 8 years], I would like to honor all those who take a moment to honor the memories of 4,188 who will not be voting this election.
Via DemocraticOz:
In this diary by ausoleil regarding Sarah Palin’s visit to a solar panel factory, pattyp's "Drill, baby, drill"-related comment made me spit out a mouthful of soda.
Via the fabulous noweasels:
luvsathoroughbred and citizenx respond to the news that Obama is a communist because he shared his toys in kindergarten.
Via Eddie C:
For comic relief, earicicle added a comment about the Benedict Arnold fan club to kos' post, Lieberman to lose committee chairmanship.
In cartwrightdale's diary, Oh Noes!!! Not my Pushing Daisies!!!, there was Hahahaha! ABC has you fooled so bad! from Reggid.
madame defarge provides a Daily Moment of Zen regarding Jimi Hendrix, and the replies to her comment form a beautiful tribue.
PBen weaves an amusing tale about Joe the Farmer.
The stills in Diogenes2008's Puppet theater, a recreation :) captured the uproarious background from a Keith Olbermann segment.
On a serious note wry twinger has a wonderful new sig line.
In Take a Left at the Light's diary, CNN / Fortune: Cry for the Rich under Obama, jfromga offered a comment titled "Cry me a river."
In bonddad's A Final Look At Bush's Economic Disaster, SW wrote about Increasing profits and stagnant/ declining wages, and Bob Guyer replied with this comment, both comments encapsulating Republican economics.
jds1978 describes how We've got to kill the narrative.
Via peace voter:
For a hearty laugh, check out blue armadillo's reflection on the GOP's electoral plan. It's one of many good comments posted to ausoleil's diary, Palin: "Drill Baby Drill" At An Ohio Solar Energy Manufacturing Plant Today
