I live in very blue, very safe (for Obama) Connecticut.
My biggest dilemna is trying to decide how I can best help Barack Obama and my local Democratic Candidates get elected on Tuesday.
There is so much to do....and well, in some ways, so little time...Here is how I have decided to spend the next few days.
While my state is solid for President, there are some important races that are close, and need help, most importantly our Congressional race, with Democratic Jim Himes putting the pressure on Chris Shays.
I was going to go to New Hampshire to canvass for Obama, and I really wanted to do that.
Then I saw Chris Shays' ad distancing himself from GWB. Of course, in the same ad, he talks about "Country First".
Since I cannot be in two places at once, and New Hampshire appears to be looking good for Obama, here is what I have decided to do every day until and including election day.
Thursday - Phone Bank Party for Obama - calls to battleground states - baking banana muffins and biscotti for hungry volunteers. Sweets for the sweet!
Friday - donating my staff's time to phone banking - again, Obama calls to swing states.
Saturday, Sunday, Monday - GOTV calls for Jim Himes
More muffins, more cookies ....Also, bringing my own cell phone and my spare to use my free weekend minutes.
Tuesday - Poll working from 5am until noon, driving my 80-year old mother-in-law to the polls, voting myself, then coming home to celebrate!
