Hello All. This is my first diary. I am writing this on behalf of my husband who is an Obama supporter and a truck driver. His company doesn't reqire uniforms. He drives 48 states. He was in South El Monte, California this morning being loaded with a load when the owner of ____ Machinery came outside cursing, screaming, yelling and verbally abusing my husband for wearing his "Obama '08" t-shirt. The owner made the workers in his company unload my husband's truck and refused the load. My husband called his trucking company and the company told him that he had a right to wear the shirt but that the owner of the company had a right to refuse the load. His company said it was probably a good thing he didn't run the load for that guy anyway, because, he sounded like he was crazy. A loose cannon like that may go off on some other issue or not know whether he is coming or going.
I am writing this on behalf of all of us. I wonder if I'll be refused service at private businesses because I wear an "Obama" t-shirt or have an "Obama" bumper sticker?
I wonder how much hate is being generated by the McCain campaign? Do you think this was one instance of one crazy guy who happens to own a business? I went to the RNC site today and it was horrible.
I wonder now, since my husband's employer supports McCain, he'll be given cruddy loads and no work in an effort to encourage him to resign? Myself and my family are feeling the effects of the hate campaigns out there. We don't like it. I have the feeling there is much more to come and I am ready. I want to believe that hate is the minority in today's society. My husband works blue collar and is imersed in blue collar only coming home once a month. He witnesses this kind of hate every day by McCain supporters in truck stops and elsewhere. This is the first time it has had an effect on the money he makes to support his family. When a trucker looses a load he has dependend on it takes a huge chunk out of the paycheck.
