A couple of days ago I wrote in my diary about how the Nikkei had fallen 10%, my business was teetering on the brink, and the world needs leadership NOW. Please read it and answer the poll there.
It's only gotten worse with another crash in the Dow today. This is not a normal year. Please, Senator Obama, show us the way!
A few comments to my late-night diary before said why Obama couldn't go out and act all Presidential now:
- we only have one President at a time (yeah, like he's worth the air he is breathing to solve this crisis)
- that the Republicans will go after Obama for pretending he's already elected (yeah, then maybe they'll forget about William Ayers, and the comparison will make McCain look smaller)
- that it is "vain and juvenile" (I didn't get that one, but it's neither if every single poll shows him the presumptive winner...I believe it's a responsibility that comes with the turf).
This is not a normal election year. The financial markets are tumbling more each day. Everyone blames it on fear. Someone needs to step up and tell us that the "only thing we need to fear is fear itself" and that help is coming.
Do other Kossacks agree? If not, how else can leadership be exerted NOW to stop the panic given it is election season? Nothing Bush is doing or can do is credible or helping calm the markets.
