"Father, forgive me, for I have sinned". You see, here in Fredericksburg Virginia I drive down route XX towards the center of town daily. I have noticed that there were maybe 40 McCain signs in a straight line along this main thoroughfare into town. These signs are on PUBLIC property. In my mind, at least one Obama sign would have added some balance, yet there were none. I even went to the Obama campaign office and complained about it, but was told they "couldnt be everywhere". Last night, I decided to take matters into my own hands, becoming the fictional "Masked Avenger".
You see, I dont fret about the so-called "undecideds". These people will not effect the elction for Obama in a negative way. I believe that the Obama victory will be based upon "Volume baby Volume". new and lapsed voters will win the day in a spectacular way. However, the gaudy display of so many McCain/Palin campaign signs might give th wrong impression to those entering our small town, and discourage turnout. In a fit of righteous indignation, I set out to correct this abhorration.
Some might say I was wrong, but I dd what I thought was fitting. Besides, these signs were on public property, and i was excersizing my free speech rightsunder the constitution. Unlike Sara Palin, I know my rights. Last night, I carefully drove to this stretch of highway and parked. Wearing dark clothes, I walked the highway and gathered up each of the McCain/Palin campaign signs. The campaign signs numbered about 38, and my first inclination was to simply discard them, but I arrived at a better solution.
When i returned home, I put my laser printer to work. for those who have seen these signs, they are blue and gold, and say McCain/Palin with their campaign web address. With my printer, I produced very large RED text which says either "Senile and Stupide", or "Vote for: Senile and Stupid". It took me about 3 hours to alter these signs, but they now say "McCain-Palin", and underneath Senile and Stupid.com" or McCain-Palin "Senile and Stupid". I then returrned to the area from which I had taken these signs. I replaced them in key locations such as traffic lights. I took a few, and spread them along a greater swath of the road.
Today, I plan to move to other city locations where Mccain-Palin signs are displayed on city property. I will either deface them or remove them. It is my goal to not have a recognizable sign remaining in my fair city. I have been joined by several like-thinking bloggers in my quest. Some may think e wrong, but it is my small contribution to the cause. This will remind people of who we are votingfor, and our options. We can have change, or we can have GrandPa McCain and his idiot sidekick. My next goal is to put a large baner across the Interstate saying the same thing (McCain-Palin "Senile and Stupid"). I am working on that as we speak.
