I am sick and tired of the center-right myth and the blather about how Obama has to go slow about things and be bipartisan. I want to crack a bull whip at anyone and everyone who starts saying what Obama has to do when he has been telling everyone what he plans to do for about two years. I don't want to hear about how great we are because we elected a black man and now that black man should just sit down, keep his mouth shut and do nothing. Democrats/progressives/liberals are going to get a chance to run things for a while and the conservatives and traditional media are terrified.
And, right, they should be.
Let's make a list.
- For at least the next four years, there won't be any new conservative Supreme Court Justices.
- Scientists will begin to research embryonic stem cells again.
- The whole idea of any kid in America can grow up to be President actually has meaning now. For Heaven's sake, the Democratic Party was run by a black man and a woman this year!
- Gitmo will be closed. Our people will be told to not torture.
- Laws will be passed and the President won't publish a statement about how he won't follow the new laws.
- It will be confirmed: the Vice President is part of the Executive Branch of government.
- There will be stories about how the President of the United States spends time thinking about what he wants to do.
- The youth of America has shown that it's a group of nationalists who want government to do stuff right and they don't care if gay people get married.
Don't go pie in the sky, here, kossacks. What can you think of that the conservatives and traditional media will actually have to deal with for at least the next four years?
From the comments:
- The rule of law will become understood again. The Justice Department will enforce the law instead of political policies. Legal procedures, including the use and necessity of warrants, will be reestablished.
- The Rich will have their taxes raised.
- Right wing politics will be trivialized, mocked and scorned.
- People in the "in" group will no longer be in the "in" group.
- Over the next four years (at least), the comparison between the personalities and capabilities of Presidents Obama and Bush will become obvious enough to embarrass those who were Bush promoters.
- As a progressive government becomes involved in issues, corporations that had exploited the conservative government's policies will suffer losses of both money and influence.
- What have I missed?
