Obama may soon be sworn in as president of the United States, but until the old die off, nothing will change. Do not get me wrong, I am not against old people, my parents are old. My grandparents are even oldier. The problem is that oldier people have their ideas and beliefs set in stone and until they are gone, the old ideas and beliefs they hold on to will still dominate our society.
My parents and grandparents are fine, but that is only because I am around to challenge their beliefs and ideas. I am however only one person, and I have yet to challenge every other false idea out there. Young people come to accept the truth easier than old people, so I do not have to work as hard to correct false assumptions.
A false assumption that needs challenged is that the rich are unfairly burdened with the majority of government taxes. Let's look at it this way, what does government do? Provides roads, highways, and other forms of transportation. Who benefits most from these benefits of govenment helping with transportation. Rich people.
Sure poor people also benefit from transportation, but rich people benefit far more from it. Rich people need good roads and bridges to ship products their companies make out to the consumers. Rich people need good roads and bridges so that their employees can come to work. Without the transportation structure the United States has, Wal-Mart would not be as big, because it would be harder to ship the products to it's stores, so it would sell less products. Wal-Mart would employee less employees to make sales, because less people would be able to travel to work at Wal-Mart, so it would sell less products. Wal-Mart would get less customers, because it would be harder to travel to Wal-Mart to buy the products, and so it would sell less products. So because of government providing infrastructure the owners of Wal-Mart are richer, and therefore should pay more to the government for providing transportation infrastructure.
Healthcare provided by government provides for a healthier workforce, which benefits the rich for making more money. A better educated workforce is a more productive workforce, and allows the rich to make more money. so when the rich a said to be unfairly burdened, I say the are not taxed enough, because they benefit more from the services that government provides.
On another point, I have an idea. you go into a casino, and go to a Roulette table
- Bet $5 on either red or black, if you win bet $5 again if you lose, then
- Bet $10 on what you bet on previously, if you win, then you are ahead $5 and go back to step 1 in you lose then
- Bet $20 on what you bet on previously, if you win, then you are ahead $5 and go back to step 1 in you lose then
- Bet $40 on what you bet on previously, if you win, then you are ahead $5 and go back to step 1 in you lose then
- Bet $80 on what you bet on previously, if you win, then you are ahead $5 and go back to step 1 in you lose then
- Bet $160 on what you bet on previously, if you win, then you are ahead $5 and go back to step 1 in you lose then
etc, etc, etc. my only question is how long could you do this until the casino kicks you out?
if you want, then someday, I will share my understanding of the stock market

Update: My point about old people is if you look at voter polls, young people voted for Obama over McCain by a 2 to 1 margin. Older white people were almost almost evenly split between Obama and McCain. My Mother and Father, and grandmother voted for Obama. Why, mostly because I talked to them about it. My father was if when he got NRA propaganda saying Obama wanted to take away his guns, but he voted for Obama in the end. He did not vote against his ecomonmic self interest like most people who voted for McCain did.
