Chairman Dean has stated:
Do we want a purge as the first thing we do? I don't think so.
And my response is HELL YES we want a purge! Here's a medical question for the Doctor - if a patient has a curable disease that threatens their life, do we not want to purge the disease from their body - or should we just forgo effective modern treatments for tetanus, pneumonia, tuberculosis, syphilis, and bubonic plague and tell the patient to 'live with it'? I don't think so...
And Americans should not be forced to live with the disease of anti-Constitutional, corporatist, authoritarian, neoCon loyalists that currently infects our government (including the likes of Joe Lieberman). There is a cure, and it's called a purge. The process starts with something called an "ELECTION" - which is supposed to be followed by something called "consequences" - and here are just a few of the things that SHOULD BE PURGED!!!
The White House computer systems are being run by a private company with Republican ties that also run the RNC’s computers. The same company that "lost" 5,000,000 emails. You can be sure that all White House communications are being monitored by the RNC or other non-official organizations. All White House computers and systems used for presidential communication should be created and maintained by the NSA, not a private Republican firm.
The military command is filled with neoCon loyalists as dissenters to the neoCon ideology were purged for nearly a decade. There may be thousands in the ranks more loyal to their neoCon authoritarian vision of America than to the Constitution, democracy, or the rule of law. These loyalists must be removed from areas critical to national security and replaced with the most competent officers available who will genuinely work to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. The United States military should conduct all operations within its capabilities and mission and no private militia army should EVER come between the citizens of the United States and their government period!
The Judiciary branch is now filled with "strict constructionist judges" who put loyalty to neoCon principles and corporate greed above the Constitution and the rights of the American people. These judges need to be evaluated and any decision where any of these judges violated the Constitution, was engaged in any nefarious or questionable activities, or exhibited clear unfairness governed by their own personal agenda rather than the spirit of the laws of the United States should be investigated to the extent of the law, and if such behavior is shown, be impeached to protect the thousands of citizens who might come before that judge from having to relinquish their Constitutional rights in doing so.
Executive offices are now filled with neoCon loyalists, and most of these loyalists are patently unqualified for the positions they hold. Every position appointed by the Bush administration or subsequently filled by a Bush administration appointee should be purged of incompetent and neoCon loyal elements and replaced with the most qualified people available to the government. These people should also have loyalty to the Constitution that is greater than their loyalty to any other group, cult, organization, or administration. This government cannot tolerate neoCon loyalists privy to national security secrets using such information to politically attack a Democratic president for their own political gain at the expense of the Constitution and the American people. As well, the American people cannot tolerate the incompetence of people hired on the basis of their cronyistic relationships or religious affiliations from allowing another Katrina response or deer in the headlights reaction to the attacks of 9/11.
Investigate, prosecute, and purge from the political gene pool anyone directly involved with the dozens of major scandals from the previous administration – no matter what their political affiliation. Many acts of treason, deception, dereliction of duty, corruption, collusion, and theft have occurred that cannot be allowed to be swept under the rug for 3 reasons:
1.) There are dangerous people involved who if not prosecuted, will simply work their way into another administration or organization just like Cheney went from advisor to Nixon to Secretary of Defense under Bush 41 to CEO of Halliburton, to the Vice Presidency.
2.) The rule of law must be restored so that it is demonstrated that no person is above the law, and so that no person would assume that they could get away with such massive crimes against the Constitution if they can run out the clock. This is not a game of attrition but a defense of the foundation of our society.
3.) These people have cost the citizens of the United States TRILLIONS of dollars of missing funds, Americans’ lives, needless expenditures, cronyistic contracts, and long term commitments to clean up their messes, and they should not only be held to account for this outright looting of the public treasury, but should be forced to pay back whatever funds the government can possibly collect. And both punitive and preventative measures must be enacted to prevent such massive looting in the future.
The language, terms, and references in our government are defined in neoCon Republican frames. These frames must be purged from public discourse. Every time we argue our positions in their frames, they win because we reinforce their frames. Frames that define how we view the very role of government, support for the troops, taxation and investment in America’s future, national security policy, and a variety of social issues. The next Democratic president must talk in Democratic frames that define why progressive Democratic ideals are better for America. Continuing to use Republican language will only keep their tendrils wrapped around the throat of the Constitution and the minds of the people.
The voting systems of the United States are filled with unverifiable, secret, black-box machines manufactured and maintained by companies with sworn allegiances to the Republican Party. To ensure faith in and a continuation of democracy, these extremely expensive, unreliable, faulty, hackable, unverifiable and unrecountable machines must be purged. When a piece of paper and a pen, hand counted in full public view is infinitely less expensive, complicated or corruptible, and when such methods, having worked for hundreds of years, are actually faster than many electronic systems and not subject to glitches, malfunctions, malicious codes, power failures, and preloaded results, there is no reason to choose an electronic Rube Goldberg machine over a piece of paper and a pen.
Politicians now gasp for corporate money like fish out of water gasping for oxygen. This money makes them high to the point they lose all sense of the oath and true concept of their position. By whatever means necessary, the corporate interests that now sit amongst elected leaders and with their hands on the helm of the state, turn us away from the common good in the interests of their own bottom line must be purged from the government. Turn us from coal, oil and nuclear to solar, hydro electric, wind, geothermal and cellulosic ethanol. Go after al Qaeda terrorists instead of Iraqi and Iranian oil. Give us purer high quality food to sustain us instead of genetically modified, chemically bathed, hormonally injected, and anti-biotically overdosed slop. Force other countries to bring their wage, safety, worker, environmental and human rights standards up to ours, rather than bringing the US down to the level of third world countries.
The government must act in the interest of its people, not in the interests of those who can afford to bribe our leaders with campaign contributions, who in turn loot our treasury on behalf of multinational corporations with no allegiance to America and exploit our citizens’ lives, assets and good will like they are something for them to harvest. Nothing short of publicly financed elections will permit this freedom from total corruption and the K Street lobbyists and corporatists must be purged in favor of the people.
All of these elements are a cancer rotting the system from within and, like a strangler fig, constantly wrapping their tendrils around the offices of power and the protections of the Constitution. The people who enable this underlying cancer to metastasize must be rendered incapable of ever again holding an office in the public trust. We have thieves dedicated to the looting by their industries in charge of protecting we the people from the excesses of their industries; we have thieves using our troops as mafia-esque enforcers of their nefarious corporate contracts and then calling the American people trying to protect the troops from such exploitation traitors; we have heralds declaring that the government who employs them is evil and that the looting of the treasury by the wealthy is actually for the benefit of the poor and exploiting the religious beliefs of those poor to obfuscate the issues and terrorize and anger them into voting against their own best interests. Wherever possible, all of these elements must be purged from the government of, by, and for the people so that we as a nation can be as great, as free, and as healthy as we are capable of being.
