No, the above is not some absurb set of answers to a comedy bit.
Rather, Al Giordano, at his blogsite the Field and his other site Narcosphere, relate a chilling tale about Hillary Clinton's silence regarding the assasination of a New York citizen, Brad Will in October 2006 in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Please see the link here:http://narcosphere.narconews.com/thefield and later cross posted to Daily Kos here: http://www.dailykos.com/...
The 37 year old United States citizen was in Oaxaca in 2006 to videotape the festering relationship between Oaxaca's despotic Govenor, Ulises Ruiz and Oaxaca's citizens. In June of 2007 the Govenor sent in 3000 police to attack an encampment of striking school teachers. At dawn, the attack began with tear gas, bullysticks and bullets. Mr. Will went in to tape the growing and sure to explode relationship between the citizens and their dictator govenor. In October 2007, Mr. Will was assasinated by policemen (not in uniform) while filming an uprising. For over two years the family has sought justice for Brad Wills' death. The junior senator from New York as ignored them
As I read this excellent article I thought, Mexico, Mexico... what would be in it for Hillary Clinton to ignore a slain constituent's family and pretend she is unavailable? Why has this family gone two years without any investigation let alone justice? It came to me: Walmart.
Excuse me and let's go back even further, according to Mr. Giordano. On December 22, 1997, paramilitary troops in Chiapas, Mexico slaughtered 45 unarmed civilians attending a Catholic Church going so far as to slice pregnant women's stomach's open to kill the unborn children. President Clinton's administration sat silent as intelligence of this impending political massacre surfaced. Clinton's administration did nothing because NAFTA's passage was imminent. The price tag, the Clinton administration's silence in exchange for non-unionized cheaper products brought into the United States. The Clinton administration knew that such atrocities were brewing throughout Mexico against unarmed political resistance against Mexico's despotic government leaders.
As many of you probably know, Walmart has long ties to President and Senator Clinton. According to The Rothenberg Political Report, June 2006, Mrs. Clinton received/reported a $5,000 check from Walmart in February 2006. She later returned the contribution. NYT, Michael Barbaro, May 20, 2007. Senator Clinton served on Wal-Mart's board of directors from 1986 to 1992. According to an article published on ABC News' website on January 24, 2008, Senator Clinton served as Wal-Mart's corporate attorney as a partner at the Rose Law Firm while her husband was Arkansas' govenor. See Commondreams.org, "Hillary Clinton and Wal-Mart: a Love Story", article by Jonathan Tasini, February 7, 2006.
The Rothenberg article focused on Walmart's red state power versus its blue state presence. Admittedly, Walmart has continued its blue state expansion since 2006. The article also cites two watchdog groups: WakeUpWalmart.com and WalMartWatch.com.
Walmart Watch has a series of articles which cover Walmart's Mexican presence. In February 2008 an article covers a recent strike by Walmart's ecmployees in Mexco as Walmart employs 150,000 people and is considered the contry's biggest private sector employer. The employees cite the failure to be paid overtime, and were block from becoming unionized. A January 2008 article concerning 20,000 teens who work without pay in Walmart's Mexican stores. Walmart escaped paying the youths under the theory that the youths are "volunteering" to work at Walmart.
Walmart Watch, in 2007,covered Walmart's newest expansion: banking. Despite it's statements to the contrary: "We're not interested inopening a consumer bank." Wal-mart spokesman to the Wall Street Journal, January 19, 2007, Wal-mart has, in fact, opened its first bank in Mexico in November 2007. They planned to open 80 more in 2007. By the end of 2008, Walmart planned to have 1000 MoneyCenters, where customers can pay bills or transfer cash. Banking is their new growth strategy. See "uncovering the Trust, the Lies Wal-Mart tells", Wal-Mart Watch.
The Clintons continuously defend Hillary's service at Wal-Mart raising the notion that pre-Hillary no women served on the Board of Directors. However, neither Clinton has ever cited how women's existence improved at Walmart as a result of her presence.
All of this leads me to conclude one thing, in my opinion, Hillary Clinton: in it for herself. Our next Secretary of State. What the world certainly needs more of is more Walmarts. The political unrest in Mexico, is not likely to get much attention or improvement from our next Secretary of State. What's in it for Wal-mart as Hillary takes center stage: more Wal-marts, banking units at Wal-mart, and a guarantee of no unionized workforce throughout Wal-mart's corridors around the world.
