The Bush exit interviews just keep getting stranger and stranger. After his workout of ducking shoes Bush sat down for another interview, this time with ABC’s Martha Raddatz. Rather than spoil the surprise please watch this outrageous clip of part of that interview.
"So What ? So What ? The man still has no fuckin clue to his guilt. Trnscipt on the flip.
Here is the key part that will probably has you all wanting to throw a few shoes of your own.
BUSH: One of the major theaters against al Qaeda turns out to have been Iraq. This is where al Qaeda said they were going to take their stand. This is where al Qaeda was hoping to take–
RADDATZ: But not until after the U.S. invaded.
BUSH: Yeah, that’s right. So what? The point is that al Qaeda said they’re going to take a stand. Well, first of all in the post-9/11 environment Saddam Hussein posed a threat. And then upon removal, al Qaeda decides to take a stand.
Just a couple months ago Martha Raddatz sat down with Cheney for a interview that cause quite a bit of a stir. Bush has just expanded on his VPs feelings. Here is that quote from Cheney that rings so closely to the above.
In an interview on the fifth anniversary of the Iraq invasion, Vice President Cheney told ABC’s Martha Raddatz that he doesn’t care about the American public’s views on the war:
RADDATZ: Two-third of Americans say it’s [the Iraq war’s] not worth fighting.
CHENEY: So?
RADDATZ So? You don’t care what the American people think?
CHENEY: No. I think you cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations in the public opinion polls.
Cheney was roundly criticized for his remarks. Even Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly said Cheney was being a "wise guy" and "dismissed the folks" with his comments. A poll released a couple of weeks later found that 81 percent of the American public believed that when making an "important decision," government leaders "should pay attention to public opinion polls."
