I almost started crying when Martha Raddatz, of ABC News, reported this yesterday evening.
Seriously. What kind of uncaring monster did this country kinda-sorta elect? Twice?
Bush: ... This is where al Qaeda said they were going to take their stand. This is where al Qaeda was hoping to take ...
Raddatz: But not until after the U.S. invaded.
Bush: Yeah, that's right. So what?
Seriously? Bush admits lying about the Iraq-al Qaeda link now, six years later, and his reaction to being called on it is "So what"?!
Son of a bitch! 1.3 million Iraqi dead as a result of our "pre-emptive" war on Iraq, and this callous fucking jerk says "So what"?!
The world loathes us for almost electing Bush -- twice -- and for good reason. For the most part, we Americans don't really consider what sort of hell Bush has rained down upon the world in our name. One death is a big fucking deal, okay? Ten is serial murder. Fifty? What, mass homicide?
But well over a million dead human beings? "So what"?!
That, people, is a holocaust. (And no, I don't conflate holocaust with genocide; the two connote entirely different sorts of mass murder.)
I sincerely hope that Bush and Cheney will eventually face charges of war crimes, torture, and an untold number of violations of the Geneva Convention and international law, to which we are signatories.
"So what"?!? To quote E.L. Doctorow, this president does not care.
