Rick Warren, noted bigot and homophobe, recently tried to defend himself against charges that he was a bigot and a homophobe, claiming that not every person who opposes same-sex marriage is a bigot.
With all respect( due or not), Mr. Warren, you are incorrect. Any person who opposes gay marriage will say that they oppose "redefining" marriage to open it to more people. They have no objections to equal rights for homosexuals, they say, they just want them to not be "married". Unfortunately, this is bigoted. As Brown vs. Board of Education said, separate facilities are inherently unequal.
Imagine this standard applied to African-Americans. They would be given separate schools, bathrooms, train cars, even water fountains. Crazy, right? Of course, anyone espousing THAT view is bigoted, right?
That view is the same one that would give gays and lesbians the same water of marriage as straight people, but from a different fountain. Of course, there are those who believe that those filthy homos deserve water only from firehoses. Certainly they are bigoted. But the rest of the anti-gay marriage group? The ones that would prefer us gays just suck it up and accept inequality? They too, are bigoted. Given the choice, a majority of them would prefer that the homos have no water, rather than give us water from their, special, "sanctified" water fountain.
Hey, Obama? Can we get a little water over here?
