According to Slate, Warren is associated with several anti-semetic statements and actions. The article is written by Christopher Hitchens. Maybe this will be the straw that will break Warren's speaking at the inauguration.
While it appears the gay and lesbian community have little influence with President-Elect Obama, maybe the pro-Israel lobby will have more luck. Am I crazy (probably) or is this time for Joementum himself! Joementum should go to AIPAC and demand Obama stop having Warren speak at the inauguration. Now I seriously doubt this will happen, but believe me, it would be a great sight to see. Rick Warren should not be allowed to speak for the nation because he speaks against so many in the nation.
I imagine that Hitchens speaks for many of us in concluding that:
The televised, Bible-bashing entrepreneur is perhaps the single most unattractive and embarrassing phenomenon that modern American culture has ever produced. It would be nice if we could begin a new era in the absence of this racket and these racketeers, and if enough people can find their voices, we still may be able to do so.
Update:
Since everyone seems to be suffering from a plethera of snarkiness this evening, this is my point.
- Last week Hitchens reported that Warren had made statments about salvation.
-The NEWS this week is Warren's trip to Syria.
Update II: The Lieberman AIPAC point was that they might have the influence to stop Obama and might care about these statements/ actions.
Since we are not in the second grade, we can each read the article and decide its importance by ourselves.
