Hi, I hope everything is going well with you. It has been a long time since we last chatted.
It sounds like you are holding up under the stress of running your campaign to be the potential Democratic Party nominee for President. I bet that's a lot of weight to have on your shoulders and I’m sure that it’s pretty stressful, I can’t even imagine. I did hear that you've broken down a couple times, you really got to get that under control. I'm an emotional guy myself, but I don't like the idea of my Commander-in-Chief crying on my TV -- it just doesn't work for me and it makes you look kinda weak. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you're weak; it's just the image thingy. The rule of thumb that I live by is to not cry when there are cameras around – this has always seemed to work for me.
Between me and you -- what doesn’t work is having my wife tell everyone that I cry every time I watch Jerry Maguire -- no shit, every time. It’s the "You're my ambassador of quawn" part at the end that gets me. Well, that and "You had me at hello", that kind of tugs at my heart strings too; don’t tell anyone though.
Anyway, sorry to get off topic, what I was writing you about is all this stuff I've been hearing about delegates and superdelegates, to be honest with you, it has gotten me kind of worried. I've heard through the grapevine that you plan on making some back room deals with party leaders and other insiders to guarantee yourself a victory over Senator Obama should you not win the pledged delegates. I have to say, this disappoints me and it just seems pretty un-Democratic to me. It's just not something I really expected to hear about concerning someone from my party. I hope they are just rumors.
I have some other issues as well; what about campaigning in Florida, even after you promised not to? Also what about forcing Senator Obama to debate you on Fox News? I thought all the candidates agreed to no Fox News debates? I just don’t think questions like "Do you believe Jesus and dinosaurs walked the earth together" are valid questions for the leader or the free world. Well, I do in fact, forgive you for the Fox News thingy, I like debates, they are helpful in choosing a candidate and they are pretty neat. I also like debate drinking games; they make me pay closer attention to what’s being said. I’m not however so sure about the Michigan and Florida campaigning though, they kinda did break the rules and this is kinda their punishment (I hope they learned their lessons -- lol!).
Well, to get to my point. I just wanted to let you know is that "no", I won't vote for you come November if you attempt to win the nomination using the superdelegates. I've defended you and your husband so many times, you probably have no idea how often people in Idaho say "...b..b.but.. but.. but Clinton!" I've defended you two until I was blue in the face; now I'm starting to wonder if I might have been wrong some of those times.
So if you do decided to broker some back room deals to seal up the nomination I'm not sure how I'll deal with it come November. I mean, let's just be honest with each other here; John McCain isn't that bad of a guy, and we all know 90% of what he is saying right now is just pandering to the Republican base. I find McCain's pandering a touch bit amusing. It is kind of funny how easy it is to manipulate the Republican base, lol. I'm not saying I'd vote against you -- we'll just have to see how you act during the campaign, but I am saying I won't vote for you. I may cast my other votes and just leave the "Who do you want for President" box empty. I just don't think I can bring myself to vote for you if you steal your nomination from the base of the Democratic Party. Although the booing you'll surely hear at the convention may be punishment enough. I also don't think having our nominee booed while accepting the nomination will bode well for the general election. Call me... cautious.
I mean, just look at the potential, you could really do some long term damage to our newly strengthened party, and I’d really hate to see that. And after all, there is the "party of me" and the "party of we", I like to think that you consider yourself in the "we" party.
Oh, and just so you know, I will vote for you if you win the nomination fair and square, even though you didn't make it to little ole Idaho. I just wanted to let you know that if I think, or start to hear that you used the power of party leaders and insiders to take this nomination from the base of the party, I will not vote for you.
Anyway, sorry for taking up so much of your time, I just wanted to let you know exactly how I feel.
Good luck with the rest of your campaign! Let’s keep it clean!
Cheers!
