Last night, I jumped the gun on the Debbie Cook campaign when I posted about her campaign. I was just really excited that she finally decided to take on the photo-op surfer.
I was please to see that dengre posted a comment. I knew that he has had Rohrabacher near the top of his Jack Abramoff Friends list. I am sure that he will educate us more along the way, get us all riled up and ready to work.
There is now an Act Blue page for Debbie Cook. I said that I would post as soon as I knew what it was. Well, I just got back to my system, looked at the messages I had not seen last night, and found that joeesha had already left a comment with her Act Bluepage. It is important to get this off to a quick start. She needs to be able to show that she can raise money quickly, as this race is quick.
Now, that page only shows about $7,500 so far. It would be great to have it up to $15K before by Tuesday. I am sure that a quick start on fundraising will catch someone by surprise.
Here is the hopeful news, to go along with this fund raising appeal. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the California Republican Party does not have a lot of money and I am sure that they don't want to spend a lot defending a safe district like the 46th.
The cash-strapped California Republican Party is facing deeply divisive political and financial problems in this critical election year - beginning with a $3 million loan from a furious contributor who was supposed to have been repaid on Friday
The man holding the chit for that loan, Larry Dodge, is not too happy.
The registration gap (with Democrats) is widening, contributions are drying up, key posts have been left open for a year, staff is being laid off and there is a never-ending string of reports which is causing long-term damage to the image of the party," Dodge wrote in the letter. "Immediate comprehensive action is required. The stakes are too high, the problems too deep, to do otherwise.
Shakespeare taught us that
There is a tide in the affairs of men,
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
The tide has turned and now it is the time to strike a blow for honest, thoughtful governance.
Getting Rohrabacher out of Washington will strike a blow for the environment, as it will get the odor of dinosaur flatulence out of the atmosphere.
