A pro-Clinton 527, American Leadership Project, has started to warm its engines with the hope of attacking Obama in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and perhaps Texas.
According to Jake Tapper(grain of salt?):
"The group is targeting through TV ads, mail, and phone communications white women under 50 in the Ohio area -- specifically Cleveland, Columbus, Youngstown, Charleston (WV), Wheeling- Steubenville, Zanesville, and Parkersburg (WV).
White men will also be a focus, and if there are any excess funds Latinos in Texas and middle class families in Pennsylvania will also be targeted."
The group is hoping to raise $10 million by the end of the week to begin its attacks. The attacks will come in the form of TV, mail and phone contact with the targeted voters.
I'm not sure why they've decided to just target white voters but perhaps they figure that they can get some of the voters Digby and Ed Rendell were talking about.
Will it be too little too late? Will the same arguments that Clinton has been using that have been failing succeed now? Do they overestimate the bias against Obama in the Democratic party?
It'll be interesting to see if a) they can raise money and b) if they'll go ultra-negative or stick to issues and c) if whatever they do has a measurable effect.
