I was watching my local news in Pittsburgh when a commercial came on. At first I thought it was the first Presidential add, but it wasn't. It was an add telling me to call Jason Altimre (my US Rep) and tell him to let Congress vote on the Terrorist Surveillance Bill. I'll tell you all about it down below.
It starts off menacing. "Midnight February 16th" and the capitol building in the background. "The law that lets intelligence agencies intercept Al Qaeda expires" Cool looking computer graphics with Intercept superimposed in red and gratuitous picture of Osama Bin Laden. "Senate Democrats and Republicans vote overwhelmingly to extend terrorist surveillance." Written on screen as well. "but the House refuses to vote and instead goes on vacation." "So new surveillance against terrorists is crippled." More cool looking graphics with Surveillance in green letters : Interrupted in red letters. "Tell Jason Altmire that Congress must do its job and pass the terrorist surveillance bill to keep us all safe." Jason Altimre's picture, phone number and Pass the Senate's Version on the screen on green letters. It was paid for by defense of democracies.
I will save my thoughts for the comments other then saying they must have something really big to hide.
