So I'm now on day 3 of no tobacco, and it's getting easier. Day 2 however? Oh...day 2 ....
Woke up and turned on the talk radio...
Mistake number 1. It was AirAmerica, but still.
Mistake number 2 , had 2 big cups of coffee.
Mistake number 3 , writing a horrible, nasty diary on Dkos that was just immature and angry and stupid (which I deleted 3 minutes after posted).
Mistake number 4 egg and bacon breakfast...i won't get into the details, but it wasn't pretty.
Mistake number 5 getting into a fight with anyone and everyone I ran into over nothing.
So what have I learned? What sage advice can I pass on from this awful day?
First, if you don't smoke , don't start. Not only is it not "cool", but the very short term relaxation that comes with a puff , is nothing compared to the hideous , bitter , violent thoughts that comes with trying to quit.
Second, when you do quit smoking, take a few days off. Don't read the paper, or listen to talk radio, or check your emails, or make phone calls, or drink coffee (it'll only make it all sooooo much worse, trust me, don't do it),or have a heavy breakfast , or , and this is the big one, DO NOT WRITE anything, much less a diary about politics here or anywhere else. In fact, don't even comment on anything. In fact , fact, just stay inside and take at least 2 sick days. Sleep as much as possible and think about it as literally detoxing . Those first couple of days are a killer. So I'm not watching the debates tonight . I'm not paying any attention to politics or any matter of import for at least another week. I'm drinking some hot chocolate , having a nice, bland , bagel and curling up with a good book.
Maybe later I'll take a long bike ride.
I'm on day 3 , now, and it's a little better, but this morning when I woke to frozen water pipes and I needed to shower??? Holy crap you should have heard me !!! Well, actually, no, you shouldn't have .
P.S. sorry about the nasty post yesterday. I'm gone now for a brisk bike ride!
