Been hearing this for months now, YEARS even, and I swear to God, if I hear it one more time my head's gonna explode!
This is gonna be a short one, but I had to get this out there. For my own peace of mind, if nothing else.
The "kitchen sink" approach taken by the Clinton campaign since the last debates closing golden note on closing. It was a wonderful moment and made me respect Sen. Clinton all the more.
Then came the sink...
Needless to say, I've been restraining my disappointment and anger, actually been speeding through the stages of GRIEF. It's been a difficult weekend and week so far, when you add that Republican fool on Bill Maher spouting of verifiable BULLSHIT and for some inexplicable reason, Bill sits back and let's it ride.
There's rampant mischaracterization and it seems the guns are truly and squarely trained upon Sen. Obama. This is not a bad thing, it's the crucible that will temper him and form him into the metaphoric sword he'll need to be on so many fronts once he's sworn in next January. He'll be stronger for it and I have no doubts about his ability to overcome.
But over the course, that one supercilious question repeated again and again about Sen. Clinton, tonight, has come into razor sharp focus for me just this evening watching Countdown's opening discussion with Russert.
Is she's "tough enough"... no one's really questioned that about her... etc...
All true, but it strikes me that they simply aren't asking the more pertinent question.
It's not about her toughness.
She can manage. No doubt.
She can calculate, triangulate, and analyze with great skill and capacity, all VERY important skills and qualities.
But no one's asked that simple question...
Can
she
LEAD?
Leadership is about more than administration alone, about more than knowledge, experience, or "vetting" alone.
In fact being a president, a leader, is NOT an exercise of will by one individual ALONE. They must LEAD; they must inspire respect, empathy, determination, and shared, COLLECTIVE will.
All the good will and respect I've held for Hillary Clinton for years now, is admittedly lessened by the confusing and rather bi-polar campaigning these last few days. But she's built a great amount of it in my mind, so all's not lost on that front.
But I simply don't believe she can lead.
The simple state of her campaign at this point and the "kitchen sink" strategy is example enough of this.

I sincerely regret any offense any honest, passionate Hillary supporter may find in this diary. Please understand, I hold you and her, in great respect. I simply see our situation, your candidate, and the overall needs of our nation differently than you do.
My unrest over the tone recently is real, but it is not my intention to add to the discord, so please forgive, if you find yourself upset over my thoughts here.
Siochain as always...
