The main thing I was worried about yesterday is that McCain would sweep, effectively sealing the nomination. Then we'd be in a tough spot with all the Republican noise machine focused on our candidates.
But good news! Huckabee's in the race for at least another month, and might just win a few more states (Ohio's likely in my book). Romney will keep spending his own money to keep his face out there (likely with an eye to 2012). They'll be distracted sniping at each other and each claiming to be the only "real" Republican in the race. And Rush, O'Rielly, and the other noisemakers will be beside themselves hating all of them.
Good news for Democrats!
And I think it's good news that the Democratic nomination's not a done deal either. It was always discouraging to be a MA voter in prior years because the nomination was all but decided before we voted. Now later primaries will not be mere head nodding, but vital, exciting races. Good news for democracy!
So while I'm sure both Obama and Clinton backers would love to have the race narrowed, not so fast. Let's keep the conversation going, with the ultimate goal of supporting the eventual nominee to overwhelming victory in November. Think landslide. Think mandate. Think crushing, humiliating stomping all over their asses.
And please, I'm begging you. No diaries or comments with "Obama will lose to McCain" or "Clinton will lose to any Republicans." It's not going to benefit anyone. While I'm in the Obama camp right now, I will fight like hell for Clinton if she's the nominee. I'm not going to indulge in one moment of defeatist thinking.
And besides, whenever I see those posts, I just think of Stillwell Angel.
You're gonna Lose!
